Christmas lights illuminated evening with Ms. PJ Harvey-21.05.2008,Kongresowa Hall,Warsaw

Sorry that it took me so long.This journal is especially for all my friends who adore Polly Jean as much as me.

That's the setlist(almost as written)

Almost,because we didn't get "Horses In My Dreams",but we've got a bit of "Lying In The Sun" on a few times expressed request of some guy (thanks to him!!!). Which leads to the next point of this short journal-how warm-hearted and smiling Polly was. It could be a big contrast,because most of people seem to think she's a a dark,introvertic,gloomy diva of alternative music and she was life of the party! Very communicative,she was telling stories and was responsive to shy shouts from the crowd. And the crowd was in my opinion really great,reception of the gig was amazing,ovations after almost every song,but on the other hand people was able to just shut up when there was the need to do so:when you could saw that Polly want to say something or just play next song. The crowd was enthusiastic,but with respect to the artist. When there was the silence,you could hear PJ swallowing water :D
PJ was utterly magnetic,stunning,genious,amazing,mind-blowing,gorgeous,mesmerising,awesome....What is the point in citing like this? It was MYSTICAL.
The voice,emotions,veracity and skills. Maybe not 100% of perfectionism,but nobody could complain,especially that she could turn everything into a unpretentious,casual jokes. And I think nobody would complain that we got 1/3 of "The Piano" twice,because she turned something off instead of turning on xD
Alone on the stage,without the band and she was still able to make it an unforgettable spectacl. I don't know myself if I prefer her promoting "White Chalk",modest,in this long,beautiful dress or predacious,rock version of her. I love both,everything about her to be honest and you couldn't want for something more despite her solitude on the stage. You could even more concentrate only on her.
As you can see,the setlist was diverse,from calm songs played on piano to vociferous,noisy "Snake" (I noticed an interesting contrast between how she was dressed and the way PJ looks and behaves with the electric guitar),hysterical,exciting "My Beautiful Leah" (PJ in trance hitting a cymbal) or my beloved "Shame". There was a completely different arrangement of "Down By The Water" (played on autoharf),"Angelene" with electronic background from "'My Beautiful Leah",different "Big Exit".
I had an amazing view and feeling of being so close-I was in the second row in the dead center! :) Polly was often standing in front of me :D
Before the encore some people stand up and came closer to the stage (there was a passage in the middle of the pit,the hall was theatre kind of place) and of course I did the same,so during the encore I was even closer :):):)
Most important thing:she said she wanted to come back soon!!!! *_____________*

They don't usually play that long! I was blown away.Completely.It was utterly beautiful.
The most important thing is: they didn't disappoint me,I was really scared I may be disappointed.I wouldn't survive it.

I can't really choose the best moments,but if I have to,then 3 songs of the show would be:
'Join Me', 'Sleepwalking Past Hope' and 'Funeral Of Hearts'.
The band and especially Ville (I can't help it,you know I love the whole band anyway) were exactly who I always thought them to be.I've always adored Ville for his voice&look&personality(at least that part he let us see) and after that night I know for sure I haven't been wrong all these years xD

The show was amazing..and funny.
At the beginning there were normal Ville's sound problems,because for Ville good soundcheck hurts :P But it lasted only for 3-4 songs and I didn't complain that much,because he was making funny signs to
During 'Kiss Of Dawn' somebody threw bra on stage and Ville hanged it on Mige's mic stand xD
He also said something about vampires before 'Vampire Heart'.
One girl threw on stage magazine with her naked pictures in it and Ville kept making jokes about it during the whole night xD
He commented on that mag before 'Killing Loneliness' and 'Sleepwalking Past Hope'. During instrumental part of SWPH he even turned back (not that i'm complaining about it xD) to read or rather look at it,it was so funny xD .
When they came back on stage for encore he said something like:'You know we don't do encores that often anymore' with this smile xD Haha.
Close to the end he also thanked us for being there that night and said (with this jokingly pathetic tone of his,you know him xD) something like: it's really good to be there,we don't feel that moved too often on stage and we appreciate that we want to listen to this melancholic crap and they're willing to play it :D :D: :D
I'm not quoting,but you get how happy I was xD
He was quite talkative,but sometimes it was hard to understand,because he often starts speaking before he reaches the mic,he mutters and the ladies were screaming :P
I don't remember before which song it was,but he started talking something about the dragon and the smoke in a pub in Helsinki,started laughing,looked around and asked they guys if they remember that,Mige made fun out of him and Ville said:'I wasn't drunk.....I was drunk.'
Hahahaha.He's not damn serious about himself,he probably realizes that everybody knows about his rehab and make fun of himself :D:D:D
During the whole gig he drank only water and redbull.He even sheded by the accident water from bottles standing next drums and somebody had to wipe it xD
The first thing techies did,was unwraping carpets,the same as you can see in 'Bleed Well' video :D It made me laugh. Ville smoked about 15 cigs in 2 hours xD I love him smoking.No one do it this way *__* Thanks to the carpets he didn't burn the stage when he was throwing them out and missing ash-tray behind his back xD And they had this burlesque lamp with shade looking like dress and stand looking like legs xD It fascinated me :>

Ville was sending his rakish smiles all over the place :D I saw his tatoos!!! Hahaha. He's so damn lovely!!!!
Burton was rather serious,Gas was not to communicative(as a drummer it's hard to be,you know :P),Linde was trying to pretend he's serious,but he was failing and Mige was a bit sick,but looking happy :)
I really miss that night.But I'm pretty sure it wasn't the last time.
It was like a really old unreal dream coming true....
I was 'in tragic extatic agony'!!!

Sorry that it took me so long&I wasn't talking about it.And sorry that I cannot reminisce well-music&feelings aren't the things I'm good in describing :P :/ I generally wrote it for anybody who'd like to read,not for myself.
